A survey was conducted to study the point of view of senior level management, the key decision makers in the information technology business. It was conducted in 2017, with an extensive range of geographies which included executives from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and South Korea.

The survey’s results displayed a growing attention and adaptation to the IaaS framework. Use of cloud computing and newer services show quite a lot of companies think IA as is important to forward-moving IT strategy.

Currently, IT departments are under a lot of pressure to deliver projects with meager resources. While digital technologies continue to disrupt the markets, the pressure keeps growing. The culture of IA as is changing as a result.

The survey revealed four important things:

1. Over two-thirds see enterprise-wide IaaS as fundamental to progressive cloud strategies—up eight percent in the past three months

2. Seven in ten say that IaaS lets organizations become more innovative—an increase of ten percent since the last Survey

3. The impact of the IaaS skills shortage is widening

4. Security is the biggest issue for businesses migrating to IaaS

What these facts tell us is that businesses that do not adapt to the new IaaS environment may find themselves falling behind in speed and profits.

The IaaS edge: new opportunities for productivity and innovation

The survey revealed that more than 56% reported increased productivity since they adopted IaaS, one of the more commonly reported benefits of IaaS.
An increase in digital transformation means that IT departments are can help drive the business forward and enable disruption. Therefore, IT departments are evaluated based on their innovation these days.

Overcoming security and skills challenges

Businesses have kept an open mind about external expertise with IaaS deployment. During the survey, when executives were asked what they would do differently if they could start the IaaS deployment anew, 33% agreed they would work with external advisors to better understand its concepts. This underlines the importance of such deployments, which suggests that they would be prepared to shell out more money rolling out IaaS in the future.

Gradual Growth is Imminent

With IaaS deployments growing in maturity, businesses who are adopting this have started seeing more benefits. They can disrupt the market while driving innovation. While the ones who resist adopting IaaS remain at risk of lagging behind.
