Most Effective Tips and Strategies for Social Media Recruitment

Try these tips and strategies to improve your social media recruiting efforts.

Many companies have been using social media for their recruiting efforts for a few years, but many more companies are jumping on the trend as social media becomes more popular than ever before for all sorts of things.

Thanks to the explosion of the internet and social media platforms, the way companies go about recruiting employees has changed a great deal. A report in Adweek states that, 92% of hiring managers use social media recruiting to find the best candidates for their company. Social recruiting strategies have grown so much, in fact, that companies using a social media recruitment strategy rose by 10% from 2010 to 2015. This is because social media allows companies to search through thousands of candidates to find the ones that possess the right skills they’re looking for and allows them to establish a connection with those candidates.

Social Media Tips to Recruit Top Talent

Build Your Company’s Online Reputation

Before you begin to use social media to recruit new hires, you’ll need to establish your company’s online reputation. Use your social media profiles to present your corporate values to your audience and let them know different things your company stands for. Millennials, the group of job seekers most used to looking online for information, want to work for a company they have an emotional connection with, and they don’t want to have to sacrifice their ethics or beliefs for a new job. Make sure you use your social media profiles to present your business in the best light and be active on any platforms you’re using.

Connect with the Right People

Once you’ve engaged on the social media platforms that make the most sense to utilize for your industry, it’s time for you to start connecting with people. These people should be leaders in your industry. Connecting with experts and niche specialists will align your profiles even more with your industry. When reaching out to these leaders and specialists, individualize each message and don’t just send out a generic message to everyone you’d like to connect with. Be authentic, appeal to their interests and let anyone you’re reaching out to know what you offer. If you pay attention to the interests of people in your network, you’ll be able to create better content to maintain your social engag2ement.

Utilize Videos

Video is growing rapidly with digital audiences and this is no different when it comes to social media recruitment. Try using a tool like Periscope, which allows users to engage with audiences of all sorts. This tool allows audiences to participate with companies through Q&A sessions and even allows companies to provide behind the scenes footage of the company to show off the company culture. Periscope also makes it easy for users to personalize their live streams for a more authentic feel for audiences.

Use the Right Hashtags

Another thing to keep in mind when using social media for your recruitment efforts is to use the right hashtags. Hashtags can be powerful because they can connect you to a much wider audience. It is important to keep in mind, though, that you need to use the right hashtags to attract the right talent. To make sure you’re using the right hashtags to attract the right candidates, try researching the Twitter, Facebook or Instagram hashtags job seekers follow so you make sure that they’re seeing your job postings.

Use LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one of the most popular sites on the web for employers and job seeks alike to use when looking for employment. Make sure that your LinkedIn profile is continually up to date and that when you’re looking to fill a position, you let people know. Try updating the first 200 words on your profile so candidates will know that you’re looking to fill positions without having to click through to reach your dedicated corporate page. Also, participate in LinkedIn groups to be able to easily identify top talent and influencers. This could be crucial if you’re trying to attract the right professionals in a competitive niche market.

Using social media can drastically improve your recruitment efforts, especially if you completely convey your company culture and share your values with potential candidates. Also, try adding an Instagram profile to show off behind the scenes videos and pictures to give audiences an inside look of your business and to add a fun aspect that shows off the culture of your company.

If you’re not already using social media for your recruitment efforts, try implementing these effective tips and strategies for a more creative way to hire new candidates.
