Ultimate Software Ranks #5 on List of Best Workplaces for Diversity

Ultimate Software was ranked #4 in the “Top 50 Best Workplaces for Parents” by Fortune and Great Place to Work (GPTW). Now, there’s another feather on the cap for Ultimate Software, as it ranked #5 on Fortune’s list of “100 Best Workplaces for Diversity.”

This ranking factors in responses from employees across the United States, analyzing the daily workplace experiences of women, people of color, LGBTQ community members, Baby Boomers, older generations, and people with disabilities.

“It’s an honor to be recognized as a Best Workplace for Diversity, as we believe in providing an inclusive environment, sustained by care and respect for all individuals,” said Vivian Maza, Chief People Officer at Ultimate. “Diverse views, experiences, and backgrounds shape who we are as people, and who Ultimate is as a company. It’s these differences that strengthen our company culture and drive our ‘People First’ principle. We are one family, working together to help improve the lives of people everywhere—through our innovative HR technology, personalized customer support, and dedicated community service.”

In order to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, Ultimate Software encourages its employees to participate in a company-wide ‘Communities of Interest’. The employees are divided into four, diverse groups:

  • PRIDEUS for LGBTQIA individuals
  • Women in Leadership for women at all levels of the organization
  • UltiVETS for veterans and active service members
  • UltiHOPE, which provides a support network for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

Each of these groups hosts a variety of networking events, professional development workshops, social gatherings, and community service outings throughout the year.

The company also features diversity and inclusion training as part of its leadership development program, LeadUS, for current and potential managers. The program involves workshops on creating environments of safety and trust, recognizing and avoiding unconscious biases in the workplace, and embracing creative differences to drive innovation.
