Impact of Cybersecurity Breaches on B2B Marketing

How can you prevent cybersecurity breaches in your company?

Cybersecurity breaches can have a very damaging effect on B2B marketing. With the right security measures in place and by keeping yourself educated though, you are sure to be able to handle any cyber threats that may come your way.

According to a research study conducted by RSA, a computer and network security company, only 10% of marketers are concerned by cybersecurity. This is not only concerning because a security breach can happen to anyone at any time but also because marketers that are not concerned with being protected in cyberspace do not have proper security protocols in place or don’t see the benefit of abiding by security protocols that may be in place to protect the business.

The RSA study revealed that less than half of all marketers possess appropriate protocols to protect them from security threats and more than 70% admitted to employing workarounds to circumnavigate IT policies and procedures. This is concerning because computer security breaches can drastically harm a company and its data.

Simple Ways to Keep a B2B Site Secure

Cybersecurity breaches need to be a concern for all departments of a company, not just the IT department. Due to the recent data security breaches of the last few years, many companies are on their toes and taking great measures to ensure that their data stays safe and out of the hands of criminals. You too can do your part to protect your company’s data with these simple ways.

Be Cautious of Server Attacks

Many B2B companies today use shared servers and those who do should be very cautious. If a website hosted on the shared server you use gets hacked, it is important to understand that your own site could be at risk of a data threat. Also, any hack that is aimed at the hosting company of the server can put your own information at risk.

Be Aware of Phishing Emails

Phishing emails have been a popular hacking trick since email was invented and they have only become more sophisticated. Hackers nowadays take the time to create a realistic looking email and even include links to try and get unsuspecting users to log into their account on a false website. Employees need to be aware of these kinds of threats and be cautious when it comes to opening emails from an unknown recipient.

Overall Website Security

Hackers cost small and medium-sized businesses 100s of thousands of dollars a year and many are forced to close due to their inability to recover from financial damages. It’s important to keep this in mind and to take cybersecurity seriously in your business. Take extra steps to ensure that your company’s data, website, and network is protected against cyber-attacks by keeping security systems up-to-date and employees educated about all types of cyber threats they could encounter daily.

Keeping your B2B marketing efforts secure is important to be constantly aware of. It is important to keep yourself educated about new threats cybercriminals are constantly creating and to have a good security system in place to protect your data from any breaches. Staying educated about new security threats will not only keep you on your toes and know what to look out for but also give you the knowledge required to combat any cyber threats you may face.
