Recently, Twitter has been looking for proposal to enhance and improve the quality of conversations on their micro-blogging site to address rising criticism against social media companies. This is to protect users from abuse and any sort of political manipulation.
Stating in a blog, Twitter said that it would be identifying metrics to keep a check on how healthy public conversations are; they will also define ways to measure it. For this, the company has created a web page where anyone can share their proposals.
Tweeting on this development, Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey accepted the fact that the platform did not fully understand the consequences of instant messaging, particularly when the conversations were negative.
He said negative comments that Twitter has witnessed include abuse, harassment, troll armies, manipulation through bots and human-coordination, misinformation campaigns, and increasingly divisive echo chambers.
Back in August 2016, Twitter had eliminated around 235,000 accounts in a time frame of six months because these accounts were promoting extremism.
