Ways AI will Impact Future Workplace

What influence will artificial intelligence have on the workforce?

The expected impact of AI technology at work.

The year of 2018 has shown us that AI has benefits and applications across various industries. From better data analysis and reporting to more accurate business reporting to personal home assistant devices, AI as grown in both popularity and usefulness.

One area where AI has started to show its impact, and will likely continue to grow its impact, is in the workplace. Businesses will continue to see more and more AI in the workplace from hiring to data management to training and reviews. Here’s some of the ways that AI is currently transforming the workplace and ways it might show up in the future.

Hiring Process

AI has already made some impact in workplaces by way of their hiring practices. Some recruitment programs use AI algorithms to pull the best candidates for the job, based on input criteria and specifications. Some job recruitment software will assess compatibility with a job based on keyword match, previous job experience, calculated employment length, and other factors that will get the best match to the top of the resume pile for review.

Reporting
Using AI in analytics and reporting can reduce human error and make more accurate predictions for companies to work from. Reporting, whether it is about marketing, budgeting, forecasting, or supply chain management, can help businesses get a more accurate picture of everything from their brand reach to financial standing and allow for better decision making at all levels. AI can help strengthen the reasoning behind a certain business call or provide the support that allows for business to make a change to tactics.

Reduced Injuries
AI has the potential to automate certain tasks that previously were manned by people who were putting themselves in harms’ way. Reduced injuries can help a business’s bottom line with the diminished need to pay out less workman’s compensation and injury claims. It might also help to reduce the cost associated with turnover and filling roles if someone is absent from injury.

New Jobs
Some people fear that AI will put more people out of a job, but people predict that the opposite will be true. As more and more businesses implement AI technology into their technology mix, they’ll need to hire AI specialists. Job growth at various companies will be an effect of AI as they’ll need more experts to handle the AI – specific pieces of the business landscape.

Artificial intelligence in the workplace will likely only continue to grow. One of the benefits of AI at work is how it automates many tasks, freeing up time and helping employees engage in more mindful tasks. Additionally, AI technology in the workplace helps to make sense of data. Workplaces are awash in data – from the information on resumes to the reports generated by departments to the customer interaction information to employee benefit and review data – and AI helps to create recommendations and meaningful interpretations and predictions based on raw data.

Has your workplace seen any changes based on implementing AI? Are there ways that you think AI would benefit your workplace?
