Top 5 Good Habits that Can Fuel Company Culture

The best ways to grow your company’s corporate culture.

The top 5 ways to create and grow a company culture you will be proud of.

Culture can feel elusive – like something you know that your business should have, but you might be unsure what that means for your brand or how your company can achieve it. It’s important for every business, but what “good culture” means might be different for every company. Here are some ways that you can identify what’s important for the culture at your company and then help grow that culture to be positive, engaging, effective, and productive.

Decide on a Culture

One of the first steps towards creating a culture is understanding what you want to be known for. Do you want to be known as a creative, positive, and inspiring? Hardworking, dedicated, and committed to deadlines? What about honest, transparent, and customer focused? Maybe some combination of these? Whatever it is, narrow your focus and create your culture goals based on whatever your company’s mission statement is.

Keep Employees Happy

Your company culture will likely reflect in whatever market or industry you’re in, but remember, your business is made up of employees. Take what they want into account – whether it’s by asking a culture question during every interview and exit interview or sending out employee satisfaction surveys, one of the fastest ways to grow culture is by making sure your company is set up as a place that employees want to work.

Keep Customers Content

Additionally, it’s just as important for most businesses to have some, if not most, of their emphasis and effort based on how they treat their customers or clients. If businesses can increase their customer focus and satisfaction, they will likely enjoy a better reputation in whatever space their business occupies in the industry. Just like with employees, it’s crucial to listen to what customers have to say and consider their input when building your processes.

Options Matter

When it comes to just about anything, people like choices. So, when it comes to creating a top-tier company culture, consider choices as part of what you’re offering employees. Whether it’s offering a handful of insurance plans, a choice of spaces to work in an office or a flexible work from home schedule, or a choice of a cash bonus or extra PTO day, having choices is one way to make employees happier and create a more positive culture.

Increase Movement

Employees who are chained to a cubicle desk all day can easily become bored and drag down the vibe of your office. Offer employees a way to move more at work and watch their productivity grow. If you add standing desks, walking meetings, or other ways to move throughout the day, your employees can exercise more creativity and control during their day, plus you’ll be seen as a company that values employee mental and physical health and as a place that embraces change, flexibility, and the modern workplace.

These are just some of the ways that your company might try to fuel your corporate culture. What are some ways that your company has helped to grow a more satisfying culture? What were the steps you took to measure your success?
