Nicole Quenqua, the Senior Vice President of publicity at The Weinstein Company (TWC), has resigned from the organization after working with the company for seven years. Quenqua’s departure comes during a time when TWC is in the final stages of its sale to Lantern Capital. During her tenure, she led campaigns for “Lion,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Django Unchained,” and Lee Daniels’ “The Butler.”

“It’s with a heavy heart, and a lotta baggage, that I walk away from a life-changing experience that was both the best and worst of times,” she wrote in an email announcing the move. “I have an immense amount of gratitude for your support throughout these 7 years.”

Quenqua will be joining Participant Media as Senior Vice President of communications immediately. She will be working out of the company’s Lon Angeles office. Quenqua will be responsible for leading and supervising entertainment publicity, events, and corporate communications that will highlight the company’s social impact mission. According to Participant Media, she will develop and execute innovative, strategic publicity initiatives across all divisions and content, including film, television, and digital. She will oversee internal and external communications.

Quenqua will also be working to incorporate Participant’s digital subsidiary, SoulPancake, into the company’s corporate account. At Participant Media, Quenqua will be reporting to Christina Kounelias, the executive VP of worldwide marketing. Kounelias announced Quenqua’s hiring on Wednesday.

“Nicole has excellent and relevant experience driving the PR campaigns of some of the most prominent and influential films of the last decade,” Kounelias said. “We look forward to her bringing that same energy and excitement to Participant’s socially driven slate of narrative films, documentaries, television projects, and digital content. We are looking to Nicole to bring her experience to expand the company’s outreach with influencers, media partnerships, and curated events that will inform Participant’s unique brand.

“Her passion and expertise for creating and capturing cultural moments will be invaluable to Participant as we continue to tap into new ways to inspire action — all tied to storytelling that inspires, empowers, and connects audiences around the world,” she added.
