The UK entity of car maker Volvo has made a new hire in their top management. Volvo Car UK has hired Mike Johnstone as its Marketing Strategy Director. Prior to joining Volvo, Johnstone had a short gig with Skoda UK. At Skoda, he was the head of business for customer quality and network development for a period of 6 months, before accepting the offer with Volvo.
Johnstone has also served at motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson, where he led the marketing function for promoting the brand in markets outside the US.
In his new role as Marketing Strategy Director, Johnstone will be strategizing the branding of a new set of products for a completely new customer base. He will be reporting to Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of Volvo Car UK. The previous senior most member in marketing department, Georgina Williams, will now report to Johnstone.
Speaking on the occasion, Wakefield said that the company is at a very exciting phase which gives it an opportunity to bring in someone like Johnstone whose expertise will help in pushing the new product line to new identified customers. Wakefield further added that he was extremely delighted to have a person like Johnstone aboard to take the brand to new heights.
