Netflix has a new acquisition. The online entertainment company acquired Millarworld, a privately-owned publisher of comic books, owned by Scottish writer Mark Millar. Millar is the brainchild behind some of the story arcs of Marvel comics like “The Ultimates” and “Old Man Logan.”
Millarworld was formed as a collaboration between Mark and Lucy Millar, also a celebrated comic book artist, to promote their own creations and brand their creations through accessories like clothes, toys, video games, and other proprietary content from their series.
The acquisition by Netflix is a major boost for Millarworld. The publishing house can bring key value propositions in storytelling that the entertainment company can leverage to showcase authentic and tailor-made content for viewers.
While Millarworld holds the rights to its creations, it will allow Netflix the opportunity to bring unique content to viewers through films, TV series, and children’s shows. This is a major incentive for Millarworld as they will continue to create more comics under the new banner Netflix.
Millarworld has created successful ventures which have culminated into epic films like “Captain America: Civil War” and “Logan.” This is proof of the quality of content that it brings to the table that Netflix can harness.
Earlier preferences of Netflix on Millarworld’s characters, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Luke Cage, have further been extrapolated because Netflix was not satisfied with the three characters and they wanted the whole cake, not just a slice. The acquisition presents exciting days ahead for Netflix and Millarworld.
