In 2015, Tinder introduced a new feature called the “Super Like.” The way the app’s interface works is that users can swipe right to let another user know they are interested. However, if a user was really interested in getting to know another user, they would swipe up on the screen. Swiping up meant that the user Super Liked the person.
Now, Tinder is launching a new feature called “Super Likeable,” which is an add on to the super like feature. Super likeable uses AI to figure out who a particular user is most likely to Super Like on the app.
Users are limited to using Super Like once a day. However, Tinder’s AI will present four different people it thinks are worthy of your Super Likes. You’ll get one free Super Like to use on one of these Super Likeable people. Users have no say over when Super Likeable people appear to them, and they cannot go out and find them. It’s just a feature they occasionally see while using Tinder.
It is currently limited to users in New York and Los Angeles, but it will likely roll out to the wider Tinder audience soon. It will be interesting to see how accurate AI is with regard to the people it thinks users will Super Like.
Here’s what the company said about the new offering:
“We’ve been cooking up a new way to bring you a more exciting Tinder experience — and we’re enlisting the help of some fancy AI to do it. We know you’re going to like it. In fact, you’re going to more than like it. That’s why we named it Super Likeable.
“Super Likeable is a new artificial intelligence-powered experience that aims to delight and surprise with a simple and fun new format to introduce you to people we think will be of special interest to you. When a user comes across the Super Likeable feature, they’ll receive a free Super Like they can send to one of the four people we’ve presented to you.
“Super Likeable is now being tested in New York City and Los Angeles. Try it out to see if we know you better than you know yourself. ;)”
