Football superstar Russell Wilson is getting funding for a new app called TraceMe to connect fans and celebrities. The idea is to allow fans to get an introspective look at the lives of celebrities. Wilson has raised $9 million for TraceMe in the initial funding round but is expected to raise millions more after receiving backing from billionaire Jeff Bezos and other investors like Alibaba co-founder Joe Tsai and YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley.
Russell Wilson’s life is arguably quite visible to the public, but it is obvious there are parts to him that the public does not know. We do know that he is married to musician and artist Ciara and is the father of a baby girl, Sienna Princess Wilson. He is also known to be good friends with the Obama family and is a proud Superbowl winner. However, the public doesn’t know the trials and tribulations that Wilson has endured to get to where he is, and that is the point of his new app. He sees the app as a platform where “celebrities of all stripes, from athletes to musicians, actors to models, and instagram influencers, can all offer a more intimate picture of themselves — on platforms that they control.”
Regarding his new app and its future potential, Russell Wilson had the following statement:
“I’ve dreamed about launching TraceMe for a long time, and I am excited to finally see it come to fruition. I have worked super hard with the world-class team at TraceMe to make this become a reality for our fans. … Now that it’s football season, my number-one priority is leading the Seahawks to another Super Bowl victory. TraceMe is going to help me on that journey by providing me with a direct line to my most passionate supporters, who drive my motivation throughout this amazing season.”
