WTC announced Wednesday (August 2) that Catz will be the keynote speaker at an event that recognizes technology-focused women who drive innovation, impact and lead technology companies, create new technologies, inspire the technology community, and build the technology economy. Over the course of 10 years, nearly 200 women in technology and over 20 university students have been recognized in the program.
WTC president Cydni Tetro praised Catz for her leadership, vision, and passion, saying she is representative of what all women in technology strive to achieve. “Her presence at this event further validates the importance of recognizing the women who are growing the technology sector, and the importance of creating environments where all women can succeed,” Tetro stated.
Orrin Hatch, a Republican who serves as the senior U.S. Senator for Utah, said he was thrilled to have Catz keynoting this year’s Women Tech Awards. “I’ve known Safra for many years,” Hatch remarked. “represents the very best of the technology industry. Under her leadership, Oracle has grown into one of the nation’s most important and innovative software companies. Safra sets a tremendous example for all technology professionals, especially women, and I look forward to hearing her counsel for Utah’s rising tech leaders.”
