Cybersecurity firm McAfee has announced that it will be acquiring SkyHigh Networks. The acquisition promises to give a new thrust to the cloud business unit of McAfee.
McAfee became an independent entity again after its departure from Intel during its deal with TPG. This new deal will bring a “new era” in cyber security, as the two companies will collaborate in the area of cloud and end point solutions.
Speaking on the announcement, McAfee CEO Chris Young said, “Skyhigh Networks had the foresight five years ago to realize that cybersecurity for cloud environments could not be an impediment to, or afterthought of, cloud adoption.” Speaking further on Skyhigh Networks, Young added, “They pioneered an entirely new product category called cloud access security broker (CASB) that analysts describe as one of the fastest growing areas of information security investments of the last five years – where Skyhigh continues to innovate and lead. Skyhigh’s leadership in cloud security, combined with McAfee’s security portfolio strength, will set the company apart in helping organizations operate freely and securely to reach their full potential.”
CEO of Skyhigh Rajeev Gupta will join McAfee to run the company’s cloud business. Commenting on his blog, Rajeev said that this deal will provide a huge financial boost to Skyhigh, opening investment opportunities and product roadmap.
