Facebook has given its news feed a new, sleek look; an upgrade from its previous interface that most users were familiar with for quite some time. Essentially, the change allows for a more practical way to get rid of the blue accents and headers across most of the platform so that the news feed is easier to navigate.
On its official news site, Facebook described its new features and clean look. The social network wants to emphasize the ability to have better conversations between peers and friends on the site. Noticing how commenting has become a way to have conversations with others via a post, Facebook updated its comment style to make it easier to see which comments are directly from friends, instead of inconveniently having to look through yourself. There are sometimes when searching for a friend’s direct comment can be difficult, so the update will make doing this much easier.
The physical look of the news feed has changed as well. Facebook included an increased color contrast which allows for the text to be more legible. Aside from the color variation, they’ve also included larger link previews, so it will be easier to read for most people. With updated icons and button tabs, Facebook wanted to make sure that its interface was improved to where it would be more accessible in every aspect. Lastly, they formatted profile pictures to be circular so that it would allow to show who’s posting or commenting.
The last area of improvement is for easier navigation when surfing the social media platform. Facebook made it easier to see where a link will direct you before you click it, which promotes the prevention of virus filled sites. It’s also easier to see whose post you are reading while you are in the post. Additionally, you’re also able to return to the general news feed after you’ve finished reading a post.
If you are an avid Facebook user, these improvements should make your life a little easier. With an upgraded interface, there are sure to be happier users surfing Facebook.
