Jessica Verrilli, the Head of Twitter’s Corporate Development Team and the company’s Lead when it comes to mergers and acquisitions, is leaving the company at the end of the year.
Verrilli has been with Twitter for close to nine years, with a short tenure at Google Ventures in 2015 that lasted for a couple of months. As a result, Verrilli has been involved in virtually every Twitter acquisition in the company’s history. She lists Vine, Periscope, MoPub, and Gnip on her LinkedIn profile. Twitter confirmed that the company will soon start searching for Verrilli’s replacement. As VP of Corporate Development and Strategy at Twitter, Verrilli was responsible for the company’s acquisitions, and oversaw deals such as MagicPony and Yes, Inc. Twitter acquired more than 30 companies during that time as Verrilli rose through the ranks.
It’s unknown what Verrilli will do next. “I’m ready to take time off, recharge, and figure out what’s next,” she wrote in a series of tweets on Friday. Verrilli is also a member of #Angels, an investment group made of current and former female Twitter executives. In the series of tweets, Verrilli said she had resigned, and that she intended to be more active in Hello Angels, a venture capital firm founded by current and former female Twitter employees in 2015.
Before joining Twitter, Verrilli was in the Mayfield Fellows Program from April 2007 to December 2007. She then worked as a consultant for ten months at Veracyte Inc. Then, for about a year, she was an Investment Associate at Vernock, and then an Investment partner at GV. After this, she joined Twitter, became a founding partner at #Angels and a board member at Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
