Tata Power Ltd’s CHRO Jayant Kumar Has Resigned

Tata Power Ltd’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Jayant Kumar, has resigned from the company, citing personal reasons.

In a comment confirming Kumar’s resignation, the company said that the post is being filled by Himal Tewari, the current Vice President for Group HR at Tata Sons.

Kumar said, “I have been working at Tata Powers for six years and it was time to move on. I am currently serving notice period.”

Tewari has been working with Tata Sons as Vice-President of Group HR since 2014. He has also served as Project Planner at Tata Motors, Consultant at Ernst & Young, Partner at August International, and as the Executive Director at Russell Reynolds Associates.

Tata Power is part of the Tata Group, with its core business focused on generating, transmitting and distributing electricity.

Prior to his role at Tata Power, Kumar served as the ER Head at North Delhi Power Limited, General Manager of HR at Reliance Communications, Vice President of HR at Tata Teleservices Ltd, and the Executive Vice President, HR at Marico Ltd. In 2013, he joined Tata Power & Group Companies as the Chief of Business HR, and became the CHRO in 2016.

Kumar’s exit follows another high-level exit last year. Last January, the company’s then Chief Executive Officer, Anil Sardana, on account of personal reasons. He was replaced by Praveer Sinha, who joined last May.
