In a comment confirming Kumar’s resignation, the company said that the post is being filled by Himal Tewari, the current Vice President for Group HR at Tata Sons.

Kumar said, “I have been working at Tata Powers for six years and it was time to move on. I am currently serving notice period.”

Tewari has been working with Tata Sons as Vice-President of Group HR since 2014. He has also served as Project Planner at Tata Motors, Consultant at Ernst & Young, Partner at August International, and as the Executive Director at Russell Reynolds Associates.

In 2013, he joined Tata Power & Group Companies as the Chief of Business HR, and became the CHRO in 2016.

Kumar’s exit follows another high-level exit last year. Last January, the company’s then Chief Executive Officer, Anil Sardana, on account of personal reasons. He was replaced by Praveer Sinha, who joined last May.
