Def Jam is bringing in some big names to fill its top brass positions. After Paul Rosenberg was announced as the record label’s new CEO, Scott Greer was recently announced as the new EVP of Marketing. Scott has been serving as the EVP of Capitol Music Group for the past three years. Prior to that, he worked with Columbia for 18 years.
Speaking on the announcement, Greer commented that he is elated to join Def Jam Recordings as it is an iconic brand in the industry, and said he feels honored to be a part of its “great cultural legacy.” As EVP, his role will include looking after the overall brand of Def Jam and managing creative elements including content. He will also be implementing and managing various digital marketing initiatives. According to Greer, the fact that Def Jam has always had amazing artistry as the core spirit of the organization, is what made him join. Moreover, the company boasts some of the most amazing voices on the hip hop and urban music scene as part of its roster.
Greer started his journey in the field of marketing back in 1991 when he was working with the likes of Beastie Boys (of Grand Royal fame). He has also been associated with the Foo Fighters and Frank Sinatra.
