With New Uber CEO Comes New Product Strategy Head

Blake Ross, the founder of Firefox and a previous Facebook official, will join Uber to create product strategy, he said on Thursday.

He’s been a candid Uber-watcher on social media. “Top of FormI’m joining Uber to help develop product strategy, rally the troops and improve my passenger rating,” quipped Ross.

The news comes only two days after the organization named its new CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi.

The role had been empty since June, when Travis Kalanick was influenced to resign. From a “#DeleteUber” online networking effort in January to affirmations of a sexist culture to a patent claim with Waymo, it’s been a troublesome year for the worldwide ridesharing organization. However, its financials indicate Uber has still kept on developing.

Khosrowshahi will begin work one week from now at an organization that is distressfully ailing in top officials. The organization is missing senior vice presidents, a head of Asia Pacific, a chief financial officer and a head of back, as well as scratch engineers for self-driving autos and product. The ride-hailing organization has a lot of work to do as it recoups from a lawful assault on its self-driving auto business, a culture examination and a prominent fight amongst financial specialists and previous CEO Travis Kalanick. Contenders like Lyft have exploited the open door.

We can anticipate that Uber will make more key contracts in the near future as it tries to enhance its picture and rigging up toward its inevitable IPO. As for Ross, it would appear that he’ll have more motivation for his Silicon Valley-themed parodies.

Ross doesn’t seem that worried. “I also love to compete,” he wrote. That is some positive energy to pass on.
