Pro.com, a provider of quotes and contractors for home furnishing, announced they have raised $10 million in a funding round led by DFJ. Other participants included Maverona, Madrona Venture Group, and Two Sigma Ventures.
Pro.com provides a platform for users to request quotes from various contractors and book them for home furnishing needs. It also allows users to pay contractors through the platform. A simple, but highly useful platform currently operates Washington state and California.
CEO Matt Williams said the new funds will help the organization expand into other regions and enhance their platform to give the right experience to users. Williams also said the financing would help them to grow their employee base which is currently at 60.
He refused to disclose any details about their customer base but indicated that they have been growing at a rate of 10 to 20 percent month-on-month in the last year. Even though, Williams claims his company is the only provider in this sector, there are other players who are gaining a share in the market including Porch and Houzz, who recently raised $400 million.
To date, the company has raised a total of $27 million in capital from various investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures, and Jeff Bezos’ investment company, Bezos Expeditions.
Matt Williams is a former Amazon executive who held various positions in the e-commerce giant before starting Pro.com in 2013. He also was CEO of Diggs which was later acquired by Betaworks.
DFJ partner Bill Bryant said, “Over a decade ago, we invested in how consumers purchase their homes through now public Redfin. We invested a year ago in a service that allows these homeowners to maintain their home, in EZhome. Pro.com fills the gap in between.”
